What is your honeymoon budget?
Honeymoons are still seen as a holiday of a lifetime and a good excuse to splash out, with 52% of couples who are going on honeymoon spending more than $5,000. According to an Easy Weddings poll taking a honeymoon is still a popular choice as only one fifth (21%) of couples that took part in the poll said they weren’t planning on going away.
538 couples took part in the poll and 427 of these said they were planning to go on honeymoon. Out of the group that were taking a honeymoon 20% had a whopping honeymoon budget of $10,000 or more. After the stress of planning a wedding many couples feel that they deserve a truly luxurious break, and that their honeymoon should be something more extravagant than a simple holiday, and couples spending more than $10,000 surely fall into this category.
Two thirds (66%) of couples who were going on honeymoon were spending between $2,500 and $10,000. 34% were spending less than $5,000 and 32% were spending more. In this price range couples can enjoy luxurious hotels, fine food, and unique excursions, both within Australia and abroad. Honeymoons in this price range many include enhanced accommodation such as the honeymoon suite, or upgraded flights.
Finally 14% of the couples that were going on honeymoon were doing it on a budget, no doubt feeling the pinch after the cost of the wedding. These couples were spending under $2,500 on their honeymoon. For this price couples were more likely to be staying local, avoiding the cost of long haul flights, although they could still get reasonably good accommodation. These couples were likely to view their honeymoon as a time to relax and enjoy some time together rather than a chance to revel in luxurious surroundings.
