Are you sending Save the Date cards, if so what type?
More than half of couples that are getting married choose to send a save the date before the official wedding invitation according to an Easy Weddings poll. Although save the date cards are the most frequently sent, save the date magnets are also very popular.
Of more than 900 couples that took part in the poll 57% said they were planning to send some kind of save the date message. A save the date is great for letting guests know that you’re getting married and that they need to put the date in their diaries to avoid clashes with holidays or other events.
Save the dates are particularly useful for couples that are getting married during the holiday season or during the peak wedding season, when guests are likely to get booked up. They are also essential for destination weddings where guests may need to make travel plans or take time off work.
Of the couples who did plan to send out a save the date, 48% said they were sending save the date cards, making this the most popular choice. However, save the date magnets weren’t far behind, with 42% saying they were taking this option. Save the date magnets are a fun alternative to cards and are perfect for attaching to the fridge door, or other metallic surfaces, to remind your guests of your wedding date. Only 10% of those that were sending a save the date planned to do it via e-mail.
43% of the couples that took part in the poll either weren’t planning to send out a save the date, or didn’t know what one was. These couples may have decided to spread the word about their wedding date in person, or might have been planning to send out the actual wedding invitations early enough to avoid clashing with other events. They may also have been getting married out of season when guests were less likely to be busy.
