A shared taste in music is what led Brisbane duo Victoria Headland and Kevin Hayward down the aisle.
Victoria, 30, met Kev, 34, when they both boarded the City Cat up the Brisbane River on their way to the Parklife music festival in 2008. “It was love at first sight,” Victoria gushes.
Four years on and Kev nervously proposed. “Of course I said yes! It was the most amazing feeling you could ever have felt,” Victoria says.
The lovers set the date for May 4, 2014 and planned an elegant outdoor ceremony at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens.
Victoria sported an elaborate strapless ruffle gown, later teaming it with Converse All Stars, with groom Kev boasting a matching pair, adding an edgy, rock star touch to their special day.
Following the garden wedding, the couple and their guests soaked up the riverfront views at Moda Events Portside. “Great food, amazing service and perfect river views!” praises the bride.
Victoria says they were thrilled to pull off a dream wedding despite the hassles of everyday life.
“In the last two years we have designed and built two houses, worked full-time jobs with extremely long hours (Kevin’s job being away for weeks with no contact in the mines) and we still managed to plan a very successful wedding.”
Victoria had a shoemaker personalise their Cons with bride and groom tags.
