When Tanya and Felipe first began planning their elegant wedding, they chose Loch Lomond’s Cameron House Hotel for their reception – somewhere the couple held close to their hearts.
However, their dreams were shattered just six months before the big day when a fire broke out and destroyed the venue. Luckily the Aberdeen couple quickly found a beautiful substitute – Fonab Castle Hotel.
With 85 guests as witness Tanya and Felipe, aged 35 and 28, tied the knot at Dublane Cathedral on August 30, 2018. Guests travelled from all over the world to attend the festivities, with Felipe’s family from Brazil and parts of Tanya’s from Canada.
“Despite the heartache of not getting married at our original venue, our dreams still came true at Fonab Castle Hotel. We hope to inspire people that when the going gets tough, work through it – things happen for a reason.”

Tanya perfectly fit the elegant theme with her Justin Alexander gown purchased from Alison Kirk Bridal.
Tanya’s bridesmaids wore flattering burgundy gowns from Alison Kirk Bridal.
Despite his Brazilian heritage, Felipe surprised his bride by wearing traditional Scottish kilt purchased from McCalls Highlandwear.
Unfortunately Tanya and Felipe’s cake was already gone by the time the pair came up for a slice. “We had to take guests’ word for it that it was amazing,” laughs the bride.
