Wanting to celebrate a relaxed festival wedding, Janey and Rhys found the perfect location in their hometown of Wales.
They wed on October 6, 2018, at Fforest Farm in Cardigan, a unique and cute venue, says the bride. “There was a tipi, multiple fire pits, a pub and accommodation to the standard of Soho Farmhouse on site,” she explains. “We didn’t want it to seem like everything was too structured or preened. The venue is so rural and rustic and we wanted to reflect that and also let the venue speak for itself.”
The couple opted for a humanist ceremony to ensure it was tailored to them. “We didn’t ignore any traditions as such, but we just made sure that the wedding was true to us,” Janey says. “We could have easily had a church wedding, but we had to remind ourselves that the most important day of our lives should reflect us.”
Rhys and Janey turned their wedding into a weekend-long celebration, that the bride describes as “relaxed and young”. “I feel Fforest itself is really quite non-traditional so it helped us steer away from the formal wedding,” she explains.

“We didn’t have a gift list, instead we asked guests to contribute to our upcoming honeymoon to South Africa,” says Janey.
The pair, both police, met five years prior when in training school.
“We found our amazing photographer Claudia Rose Carter through the Fforest Farm website,” says Janey.
“We also liked the idea that we could get married in the pub on the Friday in a small intimate legal ceremony with just out close family and friends and then have a humanist ceremony to our liking on the Saturday in front of all our guests,” smiles the bride.
“We wanted people to walk into the venue and just think ‘Ah, this is going to be a fun day’, and know that they could let their hair down, not have to worry about looking picture perfect and just party!” explains the bride.
