“We both love Copenhagen, and Danish minimal style, so we went for a lot of white, and lots of greenery.”
That simple theme ran through the Scandinavian minimalist wedding of Helen and Shaun, who married on March 2, 2018 with 80 guests in Twickenham, England. The couple, both aged 31, said planning the day was easy and fun. “Planning was surprisingly easy and enjoyable. We were both involved, and neither one of us did more than the other,” explains Helen. “We had spreadsheets for costings and timings, this helped us see if things were getting too costly, or if we were trying to do too much.”
They included little surprises throughout the celebration to keep their guests entertained. “We really wanted to have a day where everyone just had a great time,” describes the bride. “Something simple, but with some quirky elements. We wanted little surprises along the way that would make people smile.”

“I didn’t have flowers, only greens. It was impactful, and cheaper than having brightly coloured flowers all over,” says Helen.
“Helen and Shaun were such a positive couple to photograph and really went that extra mile particularly enduring the snowy and cold conditions for their portraits,” says their photographer.
“We were determined that we could get a lovely wedding without breaking the bank,” recalls the bride. “[But] there were the key things we needed to have, and wouldn’t scrimp on, such as an amazing photographer, great food and wine, and what we wore on the day.”
“On every place setting there were some temporary tattoos from a company in Australia — a selection of silly things that meant something to us as a couple,” recalls Helen. “It was very funny to see where they ended up on people over the course of the evening.”
