Sarah Hedges let her beau Robert Gratton take the reins when planning their East London Wedding.
The couple, aged 32 and 36, married on July 11, 2015 in London. A ceremony at Hackney Town Hall was followed by a reception at Hackney City Farm in the outdoor garden. “We did not want a completely traditional wedding day as most end up becoming impersonal and rushed with little time to actually enjoy it,” explains Sarah. “A little unorthodox, Rob planned and organised all aspects of the wedding, except my dress, shoes and the bridesmaids.”
For photos the couple chased some magazine-style shots under railway arches, in the park and down by the canal. “Our favourite pictures are those outside the Pie and Mash shop on Broadway Market,” smiles Sarah.
In Hackney City Farm’s gardens, the couple created a no-fuss atmosphere for guests. “Our reception was exactly what we had wanted, informal and relaxed, a summer party,” says the bride. “We enjoyed outdoor music, barbecue food and fizz.” Karaoke kept guests entertained.
“We finished around 1:00am and walked back to our hotel down Hackney Road in the warm summer rain. A beautiful end to a beautiful day,” recalls Sarah.

Stunning t-bar shoes from Rachel Simpson were Sarah’s first buy, she then had to find the dress to go with them.
“The ceremony was great, there was enough humour built in and our slightly amended script was tolerated by the registrar,” smiles Sarah.
The bridesmaids were gifted vintage brooches to wear by the bride and chose their own summer floral, tea length dresses.
The couple were looking for some “magazine-style” shots to include in their collection.
The couple didn’t want a completely traditional wedding and made time to enjoy the day.
