Amy and Tom have known one another for almost two decades, but it’s only a few years they have been a couple.
The pair, both aged 30, attended secondary school together. “It wasn’t until I got back from a year in Australia in 2015 that our friendship developed into something more,” explains Amy. “Having known each other for a huge part of our lives, we instantly knew we wanted to be with each other for the long-run, and got engaged in July 2017 on a walk not far from my family home.”
They married at their relaxed garden wedding on September 1, 2018 with 125 guests in the day and 200 in the evening.
“We wanted our wedding to reflect us as a couple, so we chose to have it in my parents’ garden where they live in Sussex,” says the bride. “We were hands-on with everything from road trips to France for the wine, growing and drying confetti to learning to make buttonholes.”
Amy, Tom and their loved ones also worked to hand-paint signs, made postboxes, cake stands – and most striking of all – Amy’s life-size painting of her and Tom which guests could take pictures with.
