After first meeting at the gym they both worked at, it didn’t take long for sparks to fly between Scarlett MacDonald and Sam Roberts.
“He spent a lot of his breaks in reception talking to me and he finally asked me out eight months later,” Scarlett, 28, says of her personal trainer beau.
Sam, 31, later took his future bride to New York and popped the question on a rooftop overlooking the Empire State Building for a proposal with a view. The couple returned home to plan their country wedding, which would also include their gorgeous daughter Bobbie, 4, as flower girl.
Scarlett and Sam married in their local church, St Andrew’s in Kegworth, Derby, on August 22, 2015 in front of 108 family and friends. Celebrations then moved to the family farm at Markfield.
“Sam had said this is where he would like to get married right from the start and what an amazing location it is!” Scarlett says. A large marquee provided plenty of room for guests and a white colour scheme with gorgeous greenery added to the country feel.
“There really is no need to stress about anything,” Scarlett says looking back. “On the day all you care about is getting down the aisle to marry the love of your life! The rest is added extras.”

A Kombi van provided fun wedding transport for the day.
“I love Sam’s laid-back outlook on life and his love for travelling. He has such a big heart,” Scarlett says.
