Groom Frank Jamison went to impressive lengths to ensure his proposal to Moira Laverty resulted in an emphatic ‘yes!’
The loved-up Dervock couple, aged 39 and 31 respectively, became engaged while enjoying a cycling holiday to Gigha Ilsand off Scotland’s west coast. Before setting off, Frank had ordered a diamond for popping the big question, but to his dismay it didn’t arrive in time.
Luckily, he did some quick (and trusting!) thinking to get the precious stone to their destination. “He arranged for the diamond to be given to the men sailing the boat to bring it from Scotland to Ballycastle and secretly hide it in Frank’s bag without me realising!” says Moira incredulously.
Once on the island, the pair cycled to the secluded twin beaches where Frank got down on one knee, with diamond in hand, and proposed to his ecstatic bride-to-be.
But the surprises didn’t end there for Moira. Her gorgeous groom had also organised for a jeweller to travel from the mainland to Gigha so they could start designing the ring straight away!
Moira and Frank were married on August 1, 2015 with a vintage wedding in Loughguie, Northern Island, at the historic Lissanoure Castle. The bride chose a stunning, vintage gown from Star Tiara to complement their romantic venue and after the celebrations ended, it was back on the road for a honeymoon abroad, exploring the California coastline.
