An idyllic historic house with the perfect view over the Yorkshire dales set the scene for Rosie Wilkinson and Josh Mitchell-Smith’s country wedding.
“We planned our wedding day for September 3 , 2016 after falling in love with the beautiful, Broughton Hall, which combined everything we wanted for our wedding: sumptuous décor and stunning halls along with incredible views of the Yorkshire dales we so loved and enough accommodation for all our friends and family,” Rosie, 29, says.
The couple, who now call Harewood, Leeds home, met years earlier at Newcastle University, before Josh, 28, popped the question in romantic Rome.
One-hundred-and-fifty friends and family attended the ceremony at The Church of St Mary the Virign at Thornton In Craven before celebrations continued at the grand country house with 200 guests.
“Our wedding day was the best day of our lives. It may seem like an obvious or cliché statement, but it really and truly was,” Rosie says.
“To us it was the perfect day, an emotional, meaningful, joyous occasion representing the best of us as a couple a celebration of our life and a celebration of the relationships we have with our friends and family.”

Beautiful bride Rosie wore a French lace gown from Caroline Castigliano, teamed with elegant hair slides from Jenny Packham, evening belt from Stewart Parvin and statement heels from Jimmy Choo.
With 10 bridesmaids, Rosie decided on the bridesmaid dress colour – dove grey – and then went with different styles for each.
“This was a beautiful, intimate church close to Broughton Hall. It was very important for us to be married in a church but for it to also be personal and intimate to us,” Rosie says of their choice of venue.
The couple’s wedding cake aimed to keep with the garden theme. “It was decorated with hundreds of hydrangea petals and was absolutely beautiful,” Rosie says.
“Our shared passion for adventure, our love of travel and parties and our closeness to our friends and families is something we really wanted to try and capture in our wedding day,” Rosie says.
“Josh has a passion for life and fun that I had never experienced before, his ability to light up any room and desire to make people happy always has him as the heart and soul of any party,” says loved-up newlywed Rosie.
