Emma Bishop and Adam Gibbons first met at a mutual friend’s wedding held on a boat in Europe, so it was only fitting they headed back to the coast for their elegant beachfront wedding.
The North Devon pair stayed closer to home for their celebrations, holding them at Watergate Bay Hotel, Cornwall on June 6, 2015 with 50 friends and family.
“My family are Cornish, and we’d been driving down for weekends away in Cornwall for the five years that we’d been together,” Emma, 34, explains.
A lot has changed in those five years, the couple welcomed daughter Coco in 2011 and bought a house of their own in North Devon.
Walking down the aisle had been lower down the list of priorities, but Emma and Adam, 35, say they couldn’t be happier that they took the plunge.
“Watergate Bay provided the perfect backdrop, but our wedding was made by our incredible family and friends and a whole heap of love,” Emma says.
“We both feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have had such a perfect day.”

Emma’s 1920s-inspired gown by Eliza Jane Howell wasn’t the style she set out to wear but she quickly fell in love. “I knew from the moment I tried it on that it was ‘the dress’. Not what I had in mind at all, but totally perfect,” Emma says.
Emma says their wedding day was a perfect reflection on them as a couple. “We just wanted to eat good food, drink and dance with all of our favourite people in one place,” she says.
Stunning photographs of the big day provided the couple with memories they can keep for years to come.
Nautical stripes and the venue’s coastal and Scandinavian styling matched perfectly with the beachfront theme.
