Hannah and Nicola’s love story is like something from a modern fairytale.
Both teachers, the pair met at work, after both had moved to London from the south-west.
“Nic basically stalked me until I had no option but give in,” Hannah says with a laugh.
But a turbulent few years followed as Hannah worked towards coming out to friends and family.
“Love prevailed and the rest is history,” she says.
After a perfect proposal on the beach in Devon, the couple began planning their rustic wedding, choosing Blake Hall in Ongar, Essex, for their July 30, 2018 celebrations.
Seventy friends and family were there to support the couple at their very personal big day.
“The main priority for us was that it had to reflect us and be what we wanted,” Hannah says of the rustic wedding.
“Having friends and family involved was the most important part of our day. Having our mums walk us down the aisle, our best friends as bridesmaids, friends playing music for us, a friend making the wedding cake, donated wedding dresses and handmade favours made our day special and unique to us.”

“The proposal was perfect,” Hannah recalls. “Nic took me away to Devon, Salcombe, to stay in a beach hut that had been featured on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces. We were sat outside, right on the beach front, with blankets and some bubbly. Nic had hidden the ring in a welly boot, took it out and got down on one knee and popped the question. Lots of tears and smiles followed along with the owner of the hut walking up the beach to us and asking Nic ‘have you done it yet?’. It’s a good job she had!”
“Our wedding was a celebration of many years together getting to the point that we did. It was a day all about true love conquering all, no matter what,” Hannah says.
Flower arrangements for the rustic wedding were created by The Flower Mill. “I saw Karen’s flowers on Instagram through Blake Hall and fell in love with her style. We met her at the
Blake Hall wedding show and she was such a lovely lady and her flowers were stunning,” Hannah says.
