Both separated from prior marriages, Lindsey and Rob decided to give Plenty of Fish a crack – and it worked!
The Norfolk couple originally planned a bigger wedding, but plans ran out of their control.
“People invited themselves, family was spread out, there had to be travel arrangements…” says Lindsey, 37. “What was meant to be a fun day to plan was turning tedious. In the end, we sat down and made the decision to cancel it all.”
Resuming planning, Lindsey and Rob, 52, listed their wedding priorities. “Honeymoon, great pictures, great day, no stress. Having both been married before, we knew what we wanted and didn’t want.”
The pair changed the original wedding venue to one where they celebrated their first-date anniversary – a place where they frequented to stroll, feed squirrels, and spend time together.
On May 20, 2017 Lindsey and Rob exchanged vows before just 12 guests at their rustic vintage wedding at The Anthenaeum in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Celebrations continued into the evening at The Angel Hotel next door.
“My biggest fear was it not feeling like a proper wedding day, but it did,” Lindsey recalls. “Our day was as unique as us. We went with our hearts just like we did on our first date.”

With her daughter’s blessing (and some help from gin), Lindsey proposed to Rob via FaceTime when he was away for work! “Not overly romantic,” she laughs. “He did agree!” Lindsey’s daughter went on to give her away at the civil ceremony at The Anthenaeum.
Norfolk photographer Rob Dodsworth captured the special occasion with his relaxed and informal style – just like the couple’s! “He was fantastic! He stayed all day,” Lindsey says.
An impressive three-tier cake for just 12 guests? “The top two tiers were fake,” reveals the bride. “The base was chocolate and raspberry truffle.”
“We don’t feel like we’ve missed out at all by having a smaller wedding.”
