Only months into her and Jamie’s relationship, Claire fell ill with sepsis and found herself fighting for her life in the ICU.
The following year, poor fortune once again struck the now engaged couple with Claire’s kidneys failing.
“Jamie got tested to donate his kidney, and it matched!” smiles Claire, now 27.
“I’d had failing kidneys for over a decade. My husband saved my life and we celebrated that. Although we nearly lost it all, we fought and came out higher than the mountain top to live a beautiful life.”
The Huddersfield couple celebrated love and life on August 18, 2018 at their classic castle wedding held at Allerton Castle in North Yorkshire. The pair simply fell in love with the grandeur and romance of the venue, choosing to host 80 guests for the day festivities and 120 guests for their night celebration.
While Claire credits Jamie for saving her life, Jamie, now 38, believes the same about his bride.
“Jamie had a few very tough years and some very painful times before we got together. He says I brought him back from the brink,” Claire explains.
“So, we really saved each other.”
