Bride Kate Storey, who admits she has a serious obsession with fresh flowers, married her beau Gary Higham at Thornton Manor in Chesire on August 18, 2017.
The couple, aged 29 and 35 respectively, opted for a modern classic wedding with just “some” traditional elements. “We didn’t want it to be too formal,” explains Kate. “I am obsessed with fresh flowers and really wanted to be colourful and stand out which I think they did.”
Photographer Rachel said her documentary-style shooting was a perfect match for the “chilled out” couple. “I don’t go in for anything cheesy or lots of awkward formal pictures. I aim to fit into their day,” she says. The beautiful venue, she said, was a welcome relief to the weather outside. “The weather was a bit crazy on this day … happily Thornton Manor is as beautiful inside as it is outside so we had no problem in finding spots for family pictures and portraits.”
As Gary’s family were visiting from the Isle of Wight the pair made sure the celebrations continued for as long as possible. “We had a big barbecue the next day to carry on the party,” smiles the bride.

The Flower Lounge met the bride’s brief for colourful flowers that would stand out.
Kate walked down the aisle to I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz.
Despite photographer Rachel describing the weather as wild, there were some opportunities for outdoor shots.
The bride chose some elegant Jimmy Choos to wear under her lace gown.
