After two children and a 12-year engagement, Mark Earlam was determined to marry the love of his life Leanne Clarke before his 40th birthday.
The couple, from Stalybridge, Manchester, met at a local bar when Leanne, now 33, was just 18.
“He approached me as I was applying some glittery lip gloss. His first words were ‘put more of that lip gloss on and I’ll give you the best kiss of your life’ So I did and the deal was sealed. We began our 15 year relationship!” Leanne recalls.
First son Jack was on the way when Mark, now 40, first popped the question on Christmas Day. It was a start of a 12-year engagement that culminated in their Christmas wedding on December 29, 2016 in front of 96 guests.
By that time, second child Oscar had arrived to complete the family ahead of their festive themed celebrations at Manchester’s The Midland Hotel.
“Our wedding was more of a celebration of our life together and the family and friends who have shared our journey with us through the love, laughter and tears,” Leanne says.
“Mark and I wanted a party and that’s exactly what our perfect day was. Full of love and fun. We wanted a Christmas wedding and, just three weeks before Marks 40th, that’s exactly what we had and it was amazing!”
