Holli and Richard’s elegant, relaxed and rustic wedding proves that simple and laid-back is often best.
“We didn’t want to make it too formal,” Holli explains.
“We wanted everyone to feel as relaxed as possible, so kept things quite simple but with a touch of elegance.”
The couple fell in love with Priory Cottages, Wetherby, North Yorkshire, which allowed friends and family to stay at the venue.
The celebrations were held on June 23, 2018, with 96 guests witnessing their short and simple ceremony conducted alongside the sweet sounds of a string quartet.
“It’s a lot of pressure to stand in front of everyone saying your vows, so we wanted to make sure we both felt as relaxed as possible, but not putting too much pressure on ourselves,” Holli says.
An all-white colour palette with touches of blush added to the elegance of the reception, where the couple was joined by 190 guests for a barbecue-style menu.
“We decided to go for half the tables decorated with an arrangement of candles, which we did ourselves, and the other half with big floral centerpieces that were high and had floating candles to tie in with the other tables,” Holli says.
The couple describes the day as the best of their lives.
“It was perfect,” the bride says. “There is absolutely nothing we would do differently.”

Holli found her dream dress at The Bridal Collection in Harrogate. “When I first put it on I wasn’t 100 per cent sure, but my bridesmaid said why don’t I try a belt and it completely changed the dress and I loved it! I felt amazing in it.”
Holli and Richard met when they were both working at the same shop. Richard decided to pop the question while the pair were on holiday in Costa Rica.
“I didn’t want a huge cake that no one would eat, so went for cupcakes,” Holli says. “I didn’t even manage to get one as they all got eaten that quick! We had white chocolate and lemon flavor with a few different icing designs, it was really effective and looked amazing.”
