Childhood friends turned lovers, Hannah Clark and Peter Jackson kept their wedding plans secret until only months before their wedding, and even then only told those who were invited.
Not a fan of being the centre of attention, and focusing on the importance of being married rather than a wedding, the pair decided to keep their wedding as intimate as possible.
The wedding proposal was just as relaxed, with Peter, 35, suggesting “we should get married” while the pair sat at home one day.
On March 3, 2017 the pair wed before 19 close family and friends at their intimate relaxed wedding in the living room of the Cley Windmill, Norfolk.
“The whole wedding day was personal, intimate, relaxed, and very emotional,” Hannah, 29, recalls of their special day. “We got married in the living room with all our guests sitting on sofas. It couldn’t have been more perfect.”
Hannah advises other couples embarking on the same wedding planning journey to “enjoy every second of your wedding day.” She says, “Fill it with love and happiness and the people you love. If the people you love are around you or in your thoughts – that’s all that matters. Memories live forever.”

Hannah found her dream wedding dress when she and her maid of honour went searching in Sheffield. “I chose the dress in the second shop I visited,” she says, “I had an idea of what I thought I’d love, and it was sat there waiting for me!”
Sadly, Peter’s mother passed away when he was only nineteen. To honour her on the day, Peter wore her favourite flower as his button hole.
Hannah says the entire family were involved on the day with setting the table, making the wedding cakes, and arranging the flowers. “It was a true family affair,” she says.
As one of Peter’s friends had lost their finger in work machinery due to his wedding ring, Peter wasn’t certain he’d be allowed to wear a ring at work, and so purchased his temporary wedding ring from Amazon. However, Peter has since found out he IS allowed, and Hannah plans on buying one for him as a gift.
“I’m quite a big believer in fate,” says Hannah. “I truly believe Peter and I were always meant to be in each other’s lives.”
The pair spent a lot of time together in Norfolk on long weekends and holiday getaways, so the Cley Windmill in Norfolk seemed the perfect choice. “We hired the whole Windmill from Friday to Sunday so our guests could stay. It was like one big family holiday!”
“I felt truly blessed to marry my best friend with our closest loved ones there to celebrate with us,” says Hannah.
