The wedding of cosplay fans Robyn, 28, and Oliver, 31, was inspired by their love for elves and wizards.
“The reason we chose Lord of the Rings as our theme is because it is a story that means a lot to both of us,” explains the bride of their Lord of the Rings wedding. “It was the perfect escapism into a fantasy world filled with adventure, hope, courage, strength and the lessons that everyone matters and anyone can make a difference.”
They married at The Norwood Hotel in Aberdeen Scotland, with 80 guests, who were all keen to embrace the theme. “My dad said something during his speech, how happy he was knowing our friends loved and cared enough for us to come to a wedding completely dressed as if they had stepped straight out of Middle Earth,” smiles Robyn. “I wore a long embroidered elven inspired dress with my Galadriel medieval tiara. Oliver wore an embroidered suede surcoat complete with sword and sword belt.”
Robyn’s dad dressed as Lord Elrond, her bridesmaids as elves, and their friend and celebrant Sonia a wizard. “We had a hobbit ring bearer, the entire venue dressed in trees and leaves and theme music playing throughout,” says the bride. “Our day was a true fantasy, there were many tears, many laughs and moments which shall be with us forever.”

“I wore a Pronovias gown which was covered in embroidered leaves, it was incredibly delicate and was almost transparent in certain light,” says Robyn.
“Oliver and I met back in 2010, he was a farrier, I was a horsey girl,” reflects Robyn.
“Our styles were already very much in sync: for couple’s portraits I love to create dreamy but vibrant stories, and I work in forests more than any other backdrop,” says photographer Alasdair.
“Our guests all embraced our theme, most of them getting their clothing from Etsy stores,” explains the bride.
