Mark knew he’d found something special when, after asking if Faye wanted to spend their first date shopping or at the cinema, she suggested drinks and a night out instead.
Not afraid to do things their own way, this set the tone for their relationship and, over 10 years later, their industrial wedding.
“We knew exactly what we wanted – something small and personal but fun,” Mark says. While they enjoyed big, extravagant weddings, the Halifax couple agreed they lacked the personality and intimacy they craved.
“We stumbled on Chapter Hall at the Northern Monk Brewery in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It was perfect – a blank, industrial canvas to put our stamp on. We have always liked things to be that little bit different and this location summed us up perfectly.”
Faye and Mark, both 30, tied the knot on October 27, 2017 before 45 close family and friends.
“Although tinged with sadness due to the absence of my dad and Faye’s mum, we all had an amazing time. It was a day filled with love and dancing until the early hours.”
Faye and Mark advise future newlyweds to stay calm, do what you want to do, and don’t feel like you have to follow everyone else’s style. “And, most importantly, dance and have fun!”

Faye sourced her unique gown online. “As soon as I walked into a bridal shop, I knew I wasn’t going to find a dress for me. I loved how unique my ASOS dress felt. I managed to portray my own personal style without having to spend a fortune.”
Mark perfectly matched his navy blue waist coast and trousers from Next Retail with a tweed jacket, gold tie pin and gold pocket watch.
