Hailing from different corners of the globe, Joanne and Tiago Silva wanted a “neutral” location when it came time to walk down the aisle.
Jo, 37, is British and Tiago, 30, is Brazilian. Both now call Australia home, but jetted overseas for their Bali wedding on August 6, 2016.
The two adventure-seekers first met in a bar in Sydney in 2013. Come 2014, Jo’s rental lease was coming to an end, so she moved in with Tiago while she found something else. “Although it was supposed to be a temporary situation only, we later decided to make it permanent,” smiles Jo.
Around 18 months later, Tiago proposed and the pair started planning. They wanted a small and intimate wedding and chose Ayodya Resort at Nusa Dua for the big day, shared with 22 close friends and family.
The beach’s white sands and crashing waves provided a gorgeous backdrop to the ceremony, held in front of a Balinese-style wedding arbour. The reception celebrations were held under the stars and twinkling fairy lights on the resort grounds.
“We wanted a small, intimate wedding and the day was just perfect everything as we imagined and more,” Jo says.
