They decked out the local hall in hessian and hay and incorporated a piece of their favourite beach into their vows.
Jessica Moroney and Jethro Holmes’ earthy palette was a representation of not only their two favourite things – the ocean and the country – but also their grounded attitudes. “It was more about the marriage than the wedding,” says Jessica, 22.
Their relaxed nuptials on April 5, 2014 were held in Perlubie Beach, South Australia. “We chose to only include things with a special meaning – such as our sand ceremony – which not only signified our union but included sand from the beach which is a special place in our relationship.
From the cliff top ceremony overlooking the bay, 150 guests migrated to Piednippie Hall where country-chic inspired the desired atmosphere: “Calm, simple, elegant, and full of love,” smiles Jessica.
The DIY wedding starred natural elements including hessian, hay and timber combined with lace and gypsophila. “We loved the contrast of all the earthy tones mixed in with the white,” says Jessica, with Jethro, 26. “Even our crockery worked with the hessian…in a bone colour.”
The organised pair were a calm one come wedding day. Says the bride, “Double check every detail in the lead up, but on the day, relax and enjoy – in the blink of an eye, it’s over!”
The laid back duo brought their rustic style to the beach, with hay bales and a hessian aisle.
Jessica and Jethro’s photos “showcased the beautiful locations we have grown up around,” says the bride.
