For Tabby and Carl, a traditional white wedding was out of the question as they were not your typical formal kind of couple.
The pair who met on Myspace (amazing!) about fifteen years ago wanted their wedding day to be a celebration that their families could have a good time and create happy memories at.
One of the first things they did when planning their wedding was to pick a venue.
“We only viewed three venues but when we found Bressingham Hall and High Barn, we knew it was ‘The One”,” recalls the bride, who has a big love for flowers.
“For starters, they were the only venue that offered us tea and coffee on arrival and I appreciate the little things in life! Another perk was that Carl used to go to the steam engines next door as a child and my grandparents used to shop with the famous Blooms Family, who bought and curated the gardens back in 1946.”
Tabby and Carl held their colour garden wedding in an outdoor ceremony at the Bressingham Hall on June 27, 2018, with 60 of their closest family and friends in attendance.
The bride admits one of the hardest things about planning the wedding was finding her dream dress.
“As a plus-sized woman, I didn’t think that I would find a pretty dress out of so many options. Visits at a lot of the local bridal boutiques were also disheartening. In the end, a friend recommended I try David’s Bridal in Westfield, London. They even managed to get it tailored to fit me perfectly and got it right on the first official fitting.
One advice Tabby has for future brides is to move your guest book into the evening room or you will not capture all the funny comments from your guests and to take time for yourselves.

“I chose bright peonies, proteas, thistles and roses for my flower crown and my bridesmaids had flower crowns of Gyspophilla to complement their floral dresses,” explains Tabby.
“Initially I found it really hard to find the bridesmaids dresses as they all had different body shapes and wanted totally different things from them. I came across a fab range on ASOS with floral bold patterns and they were really pleased as the dresses had same prints but came in different cuts.”
Guests showered the newlyweds with biodegradable natural petals which are not only pretty but also good for the environment!
