When it came to knuckle down and start planning, Cara and Dan loved the idea of having a themed wedding.
“We’ve never been overly traditional and loved the idea of having a theme as it was a bit different. Unfortunately Dan wouldn’t let me have Game of Thrones as the theme so we agreed on a Great Gatsby wedding,” laughs the bride.
The Ryde couple, aged 29 and 28 respectively, married on October 6, 2018 at Albert Cottage Hotel in East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. 50 guests attended who, Cara says, fully embraced the theme and dressed to the nines.
Everything perfectly complemented the 1920s feel with bridesmaids dressed in rose gold and giant martini glasses filled with pearls and roses, black chair covers and sequin table runners featuring in the reception decor. Cara and Dan even splurged on a 1920s themed jazz band from London to set the scene and get everyone in the celebrating mood.

Cara purchased her gown on sale at Elizabeth Smith and had a series of alterations done, including the addition of sleeves, by Forget Me Not Designs.
Cara’s vintage-inspired makeup by Beautique The Hair & Beauty Company featured winged eyeliner and a bold red lip.
The bride created a lot herself, including the invitations, wedding favours, menus, place cards and even the cake!
