Nervous about an upcoming blind date? Read on.
Vicky Bye and Robert Steel, both 27, are a blind date success story! The pair met after being set up by mutual friends and after a “very short time” knew they would be together forever, says Vicky. Just a few months later they were engaged. “Rob proposed by having the question written on a balloon and the ring in his other hand and, after a very nervous proposal, his face lit up when the answer was ‘yes,’” she laughs.
She adds, “It was the most magical moment knowing that the person that I had completely fallen in love with also loved me for me and had asked me to marry him.”
Their classic wedding day arrived on June 20, 2015. Vicky, the organiser, arranged a “comprehensive Excel sheet” to plan the proceedings, and Rob’s desire to incorporate his Scottish background sparked the wedding theme. “Rob wanted to wear a kilt and this was the basis of our colour scheme,” explains Vicky. “We chose a tartan that we liked – Pride of Scotland – which gave us a lovely navy blue and purple colour scheme to work with.”
One hundred and fifty guests turned out for the occasion. The pair marked their matrimony with a ceremony at St Michael and All Angels Church in Penkridge followed by a reception at Rodbaston Hall in Staffordshire.
The bride surprised her groom with a honeymoon in Greece.

“Rob to me is the most amazing, caring and loving man I know,” says Vicky.
“Vicky means the absolute world to me,” says Rob.
