American basketball legend Michael Jordan last week married former model Yvette Prieto in front of whopping 500 of their closest friends and family – and that was before heading off for their glamorous reception, which was attended by another 1000 guests. That’s 1500 in total.
The 50-year-old former Chicago Bulls player met Yvette, 35, at a Miami nightclub five years ago. They became engaged in 2011 and finally made it down the aisle on Saturday.
The recepton was a grand affair held at a swanky Florida golf course community and, among the guests was Tiger Woods, Spike Lee and Patrick Ewing. The entertainment was just as impressive with the likes of Grammy Award-winner Usher, Robin Thicke, The Source and an 18-piece band performing.
Yvette wore a French silk voile, corseted sheer sheath gown by J’Aton. It was covered in a layer of handmade silk lace that was peppered with eye-popping Swarovski crystals.
The couple’s all-white seven-layer cake was rum flavoured and covered in sugar crystals and guests’ tables were candlelit and filled with only white roses, peonies and tulips.
The night ended with fireworks and, rather than asking for gifts, the couple requested donations be made to the James R. Jordan Foundation. The flowers, which cost thousands of dollars, were all donated to a local hospital.
It is Michael’s second marriage. He and first wife Juanita divorced in in 2006 after 17 years of marriage.
