I’m not sure how it happened but my calendar tells me it’s the end of June! When did this happen – I’m sure I didn’t authorise it.
Which means that there are 283 days til our wedding and only 143 til our engagement party! Time sure flies when you are designing wishing wells and looking at paper samples.
Craig and I had our little engagement party a few months after we got engaged – it was a small casual affair in our backyard with a lamb spit and a few of our closest friends. We decided that when we picked a wedding date we would have an “official” one for all the family members to attend – we didn’t want to go through the awkward conversations of when is the wedding, why haven’t you picked a date etc.
The day of the engagement party will be fairly chaotic, Craig and I will be going to the beach with Gary, our second photographer and doing an engagement session, to get to know each other – Gary and us that is – Craig and I are pretty familiar with each other…
I will be having a makeup trial with my good friend and fellow forum moderator Melani of BlackCatsAngelDesigns, so we can try out looks for the big day. Which will involve some champagne and lots of laughter – Mel and I talk non-stop when we get together and rarely stop laughing!
We will help mum and dad set up the hall for the party – we are using the local community hall as it is easier to accommodate 110 people there than in my mum and dad’s backyard.
I also have to remember how to get into a sari! I have a beautiful sea green sari for the evening and it has been a year or so since I’ve managed to wrap myself up in one and it can be a bit tricky without practice – lucky I will have my mum and an army of aunts there to help!
I am still trying to make Craig feel better about wearing a suit for the night – he would prefer trackie pants and a hoodie but I’m thinking it may clash with the sari…Boys just don’t think of these things.
Another thing that has me a little excited is the photo booth we have! Alex from Event Photo Booth is setting up a photo booth for us for a few hours during the night – which I think will be heaps of fun – not sure how the family will take to it – but after a few drinks I’m sure it won’t be too much of an issue…
So I am stocking up on the cans of Red Bull and preparing myself for an evening of colour, food, drinks and some very funny photos!
