Yes, yes, we know celebrities are just people too but you have to admit there is something about a knees-up celebrity wedding that we can’t help love and 2013 will see some of the biggest stars in the world walk down the aisle.
Brad and Ange
Barring a royal wedding, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s long-awaited nuptials are going to be HUGE, easily the most anticipated celebrity wedding of the year – if it actually happens this year, that is. 44-year-old Brad and 35-year-old Jolie have been dating since 2005 after meeting on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith. During the intervening eight years, they have built up a brood of six kids; Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh Nouvel, Pax Thien, twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline, so in 2013, they’re expected to finally make it official despite years of saying they would only wed when gay marriage was legalised in the US. Brad is quoted as saying, “The kids ask about marriage…It’s meaning more and more to them,” he adds. “It’s something we’ve got to look at.”
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux
Brad Pitt has found happiness with Angelina Jolie, so it’s nice to know that his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, has found love too. Jen has been unlucky-in-love since her and Brad divorced in 2005 with Jen experiencing her fair share of well publicised heartbreak.Thankfully, she seems to have found solace in the arms of American Psycho actor Justin Theroux. Theroux proposed to Jen, 43, in late 2012 on his 41st birthday, in fact. Those close to the couple suggest the wedding is likely to be a low-key affair, with only fifty or so close family and friends invited. Emily Blunt and talk show host Chelsea Lately are rumoured to be signed up as bridesmaids and couple are said to be considering Cabo San Lucas in Mexico as the location for the big event.
Shane Warne and Liz Hurley
According to an interview with Hello! Magazine, spin king Shane Warne and model/actress Liz Hurley are planning on holding two weddings; one in the UK with Hurley’s family, and one in Australia so Shane’s children can attend. Possible locations include Gloucestershire (where the couple currently live) and Melbourne, home to the majority of Shane’s immediate family. Few details have emerged about the kind of dress the former model will be wearing, however, the actress is known to have a penchant for Versace and, it seems, Donatella Versace has offered to design one of Liz’s two weddings gowns herself. Now that’s some serious clout!
Keira Knightley and James Righton
The Pirates of the Caribbean actress announced her engagement to musician James Righton in May 2012. The pair were introduced by fashion personality Alexa Chung and have been dating since 2010 but, it seems, Keira’s not too fussed about organising the wedding. During a stint on the Ellen show, she told host Ellen DeGeneres, ‘The problem is ever since it’s happened everyone keeps going “so when is it going to happen and what’s they dress like?”‘
‘I’m just not one of those girls that’s had the kind of fantasy wedding thing,” Keira told Ellen. We haven’t planned anything and it’s all quite terrifying and I sort looked up on the Internet. If you’re getting married what should you do?’
‘I really don’t have a clue,’ Keira admitted. ‘I don’t get what the big deal is. You say, “I do,” I do. You drink a bit. Anyway on the Internet there are things like Bridal Tea Parties. I mean, what is a bridal tea party? I’ve never had a tea party in my life.” Ok, so maybe we’ll add Keira’s wedding to next year’s list?
Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger
We’re all for a rock ‘n’ roll spin on traditional wedding style, and it looks like we’re not going to be disappointed by the singer Avril Lavigne impending nuptials. Engaged to 37-year-old Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, Lavigne has revealed she’ll be designing her own wedding dress for the upcoming event, which is scheduled to take place in Britain’s summer. In contrast to her fiancee’s original plans for something quiet and traditional, the Canadian singer has set her sights set on creating “the most unique wedding the world has ever seen”. Details are still sketchy, however sources suggest the couple have opted for a patriotic Canadian play-list for the big day, coupled with groomsmen decked out in ‘alternative’ attire. We can’t wait to see that one!
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez
The X-Men actress announced her engagement to Kylie Minogue’s ex, French actor Olivier Martinez, in December 2011. Little has emerged by way of an official date, however the couple were recently spotted checking out Saint-Germain-des-Pres Abbey and the Saint-Sulpice cathedral in Paris, prompting speculation of a Parisian wedding. However, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the couple. Halle has been embroiled in a rather bitter custody battle with model Gabriel Aubry, her former partner and father of her daughter Nahla, who was successful in his bid to stop them moving to France permanently. When they do eventually make it down the aisle, Halle will look stunning in her wedding gown with the likes of Austrian designer Helmut Lang offering up his services to design the dress.
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock
America’s first Idol, Kelly Clarkson is engaged to her beau of one year, Brandon Blackstock. Brandon, the step-son of country star Reba McEntire popped the question and Kel excitedly shared the news on Twitter saying, “I’M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y’all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night!” “I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever.” Brandon, a talent manager (for Blake Shelton), met the 30-year-old ‘Miss Independent’ singer through his famous mum. Kelly recently recounted how Brandon proposed. She recently told People magazine that while relaxing at home one night in December last year, “Out of nowhere I just said, ‘Thanks for being an awesome guy.’ I’ve never been loved properly by a man, and I was just like, ‘I thank you so much for that.’ ” However, Kelly didn’t realise that her beau was thinking the same thing – and was about to propose. She says she had “Not a damn clue! If I did I would have worn something besides Uggs and a sweatshirt with no bra.”
Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall
We’re hoping Jen, a former Miss Universe, makes it down the aisle after her wedding to model Jake Wall was postponed following his Mum’s death earlier this month. The couple started dating before her big win and Jake proposed on New Year’s Eve 2010. Their wedding was scheduled for some time this year, however Jake’s mum passed away unexpectedly on February 3 while awaiting a second liver transplant.
Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Christopher O’Neill
This year’s royal wedding, set to take place on June 8 at Stockholm’s cathedral, is between Princess Madeleine, the youngest daughter of the reigning King Carl XVI, to London-born financier Chris O’Neill. Being a devout Lutheran, Princess Madeleine was keen to follow in the footsteps of her predecessors, opting for the traditional pomp and ceremony over a beach wedding somewhere hot and isolated. A statement released by Sweden’s Royal Household confirms wedding invitations will be sent out by April 1st, so we’re still not sure if we’re invited, but fingers crossed. 🙂 The wedding will be a massive State affair, so along with a huge wedding cortège, there will be pomp and ceremony aplenty – and perhaps even a traditional torchlight dance!
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Former child star turned pop singer Miley Cyrus was the talk of Tinseltown after becoming engaged at the tender age of just 19. Miley, whose role as TV’s Hannah Montana turned her into a teen starlet in 2006, is set to marry her boyfriend of three years, Aussie Hunger Games hunk, Liam Hemsworth. Miley met Liam, 22, on the set of the 2009 romance The Last Song and, when asked by People magazine how she felt about being engaged, her response was an enthusiastic “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam.” She later tweeted, “Thank you for all the love today. I’m happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true.” Though Miley’s No.1 choice for her wedding dress is Marchesa, she say, “So many people want to be involved, I’ll probably have 30 dresses at my wedding.” Now that’s a great problem to have.
Christina Ricci and James Heerdegen
Addams Family alum and former child star Christina Ricci has been engaged since October 2012 but refused to comment on the whacking great engagement ring she’s been spotted wearing ever since. However, earlier this month, she casually mentioned she was engaged during a press interview. The lucky man is James Heerdegen, a dolly grip whom she met on the set of the now cancelled TV series Pan Am.
