New York newlyweds Monica Nikchemny and Felix Komrash (above) are suing their wedding videographer, to the tune of $100,000, for a wedding video they describe as “ridiculous”.
The couple, who wed in September 2012, hired Igor Boshoer from Visualaz to shoot their wedding video.
Boshoer, whose credits include The Wolf of Wall Street, shot the video but the bride, who owns a wedding dress company, has told New York’s Daily Mail, “When I watched my wedding video it really sounded like I was watching an episode of ‘Seinfeld.’”
“It really was ridiculous.”
Trouble between the couple and the Brooklyn-based company began early, with the bride claiming they asked Boshoer to film a mini ‘love story’ which could be played during the ceremony. She says the videographers suggested a storyline that involved the groom-to-be dressing up as a transvestite, which she describes as “very inappropriate and disrespectful,” and “a complete joke.”
The friction continued, even on the wedding day when, Monica says, the filmmakers arrived with only part of the equipment being hired as part of the $13,000 contract.
Finally, a year later, when the video was delivered, it was ” the worst thing in the world,” says the bride, who claims she “was really, absolutely hysterical and I almost had a nervous breakdown.”
The bride says the video has no set beginning, middle and end, and that its use of canned clapping and dubbed sounds was not what she wanted.
Boshoer, who runs Visualaz with his wife told the Daily Mail that the lawsuit “caught us by surprise” but refrained from further comment.
The bride and her father are suing Visualaz for $122,000, the cost of Visualaz’ services plus punitive damages.
