America’s longest marriage ended this week after 102-year-old Victoria Wrubel died on Monday.
Victoria (nee Puvalowski) married Steven Wrubel in 1929, when she was just 18 years old and he was 20.
That was 83 years ago.
The couple married in Parisville, Michigan where they both grew up and, last month, Steve told the Detroit Free Press that he loved Vikki long before he met her, saying “She was this little girl with curly hair,” who he’d see every week at St Mary’s Catholic church.
Steven is now 103 and has been retired from General Motors for 40 years. Victoria worked as a housekeeper before she too retired around the same time.
The couple had no children.
