The striking V&A Museum, in the illustrious area of South Kensington, is a unique masterpiece of Victorian architecture and a treasure trove containing nearly 3 million objects spanning 5,000 years. Since 2001, the V&A Museum has embarked on a major 150 million pound renovation programme, to ensure that it has all the latest technology to create up-to-the-minute exhibitions and seamlessly run events and wedding celebrations.

The V&A Museum was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, perhaps one of the most famously in love Royal couples. Queen Victoria even expressed her devotion to Albert publicly: ‘his excessive love and affection gave me a feeling of heavenly love and happiness I never could have hoped to have felt before!’ The museum plays a touching homage to the great affection between these two individuals and their romance lives on within the museum, making the V&A is a fitting setting to celebrate love.

At the entrance, beneath the dome, is a stunning Dale Chihuly’s central glass sculpture, immersed within a scene of soaring ceilings, marble flooring and classical architecture. This room is one of London’s grandest and most impressive backdrops for a wedding reception of up to 250 guests.

The Raphael Gallery is the museum’s largest and most prestigious space, housing some of the most important serving examples of Renaissance art in the world. The compelling room features a Spanish altarpiece, lending a striking background to wedding dinners of up to 400 guests. With its resplendent atmosphere, this is also one of the most popular wedding ceremony spaces.

Another iconic reception room within the museum is The Dorothy and Michael Hintze Sculpture Galleries. The black and white mosaic flooring emphasises the beautiful collection of pearlescent sculptural art, coupled with a beautiful view of the John Madejski garden. The tall windows open directly onto the garden so guests can flow between the two spaces and mingle amongst the heavenly chiselled carvings.

Speaking of The John Madejski Garden, this secret garden is one of London’s hidden jewels; a tranquil space featuring a plethora of elegant fountains, which are perfect for wedding photos and a lovely backdrop for a ceremony. During the evening, the garden is illuminated, enhancing the 19th-century terracotta facades and creating an ethereal atmosphere for you and your wedding guests.

Elegant and unforgettable, the Victoria & Albert Museum certainly does not disappoint if you want an atmospheric evening engagement celebration or a wedding reception in an iconic, historical venue. VISIT WEBSITE

This is a classic museum. And though when outside you get an idea of how huge the complex is, it is not until you are inside that it's side, depth, and breadth hits you. I had the opportunity and pleasure to see parts of this museum after hours while attending two ceremonies, so the look and feel of the museum took on a more majestic feel than when I went through it during regular hours.

What an extraordinarily beautiful building. Soaring ceilings, high windows, fascinating flooring patterns, long vistas. A confident architecture. Even the toilets were uplifting. Just wow!

Such a terrific venue, very organized. The V&A Museum building itself is an amazing bit of architecture, inside and out.
