Gliffaes Hotel

OVERVIEW

Nestled in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Gliffaes lies between the River Usk and the Myarth Hill.

It is this position that gives the hotel its name from Gwlydd Faes – the dewy field.

With such beautiful surroundings and a glorious location in Wales, our guests have said that visiting Gliffaes is like ‘staying at a rich friend’s house for the weekend’.

This is indicative of exactly what we want to be for our guests; a home away from home.

The hotel has a rich history, with dwellings on the site from 1234.

During the last century Gliffaes passed through several hands, with the house first opening to paying guests in 1936. In 1946 Sam and Jane Brabner bought the hotel, with Nick and Peta Brabner coming to live here in 1972. In 1998 their daughter Susie and son-in-law James Suter, who now run the hotel, settled at Gliffaes with their two daughters, Alexandra and Olivia.

Gliffaes has remained in the same family now for over 60 years.

Gliffaes is not a wedding factory; we only cater for a few weddings each year. You won’t find yourself in a ‘function suite’ with another wedding happening on the other side of the hotel. Some venues do so many weddings that the process can become a production line, losing any sense of individuality and personal input, but not at Gliffaes!
