OVERVIEW
Carlton House Terrace London Wedding Venue Snapshot:
Upon entering {10-11} Carlton House Terrace, your guests are immediately struck by the stunning interiors and period detail. The grandeur of the Entrance Hall at 10 Carlton House Terrace is undeniable. With a sweeping three-flight black marble staircase and magnificent corniced ceilings above, you know that this building is special. Meanwhile, the Entrance and Lobby to No. 11, decorated in Wedgwood Blue with high ceilings and a fireplace, offers an inviting atmosphere with classic English beauty. The flexible spaces offer a unique opportunity to take over one or both of the Grade I listed Georgian Townhouses.
Step back in time and bask in the splendour of the Regency era interiors, an era noted for its elegance, fine arts and sublime architecture, fitting for a first-class wedding. Constructed in 1831 on land previously occupied by Carlton House, the residence of the Prince Regent, (King George IV), the house was the scene of a brilliant social life. With 10 rooms, traditional and elegant in style, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The venue is licensed for ceremonies and private entertaining until midnight, with a possible extension until 2am. Host an intimate ceremony for 40 guests in the Library, or a grand wedding reception for 125 guests in the Wolfson Room.
The large bay windows featured in all rooms provide an abundance of natural light, enchanting your guests with picturesque views of St James’s Park, The Mall and many iconic landmarks. The Council Room’s gardenia-panelled walls are hung with royal gilt-framed period portraits, keeping with the ornate ceiling. This room pairs with the adjoining Music Room; its name is derived from the representation of musical instruments in the ornamental plasterwork. From painted window blinds and beautiful carved stone fireplace to the three large mirrors and two grand chandeliers, the Music Room was one of many in No. 11 that formed the private residence of four times Prime Minister, William Gladstone.
The Wolfson Room is the venue’s largest — a remarkable space with beautiful brass chandeliers. The adjoining Gallery space, included in the hire of the Wolfson Room, is a light and refreshing area. The Radhakrishnan Room is an exceptional, bright, double-aspect room. Major pieces from the academy’s art collection hang along its walls, as do gold chandeliers from a majestic corniced ceiling. The Reading Room is a generously proportioned space with impressive archways and artworks, and floor-to-ceiling bookcases that stretch along two walls.
If you are looking for a special venue to impress your clients, Carlton House Terrace has all the ingredients for a memorable wedding.
