Civic Catering also places a high priority on ethical purchasing, working with a number of contracted suppliers to ensure that as many goods as possible have been ethically sourced. Ethically sourced products are created in safe facilities by workers who are treated well and paid fair wages to work legal hours. All tea, coffee and hot chocolate supplied at meetings are Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance certified.
In the last few years, Civic Catering has seen a greater demand for specialist ethnic food and a greater ethnic community involvement generally. In order to be sure that we meet the needs of customers from all communities within Birmingham, we have opened our catering offering to include a range of external caterers, such as Asian and Afro-Caribbean caterers, for guests when booking events such as weddings, conferences and events. There have been a number of marketing exercises to reach the wider community and have seen the Asian wedding market grow as a result with nine weddings in 2012/13.
We undertake a significant amount of consultation with customers including survey monkey customer satisfaction surveys and postal surveys to ensure that we meet customer needs and make sure that local people and communities are served in the way they want.
