The D’Aranyi String Quartet, a group of professional Oxford-based musicians, provides a range of classical and light music for occasions such as wedding ceremonies and wedding services, receptions, dinners, corporate functions, conferences and parties. The Quartet enjoys working closely with its clients to help to create the desired atmosphere.
The Quartet was set up some twenty years ago and is named after the famous Hungarian violinist sisters, Adila and Jelly D’Aranyi, who in the 1940s built Garden House in the Oxfordshire village of Ewelme. A founder member of the Quartet later bought Garden House, and the Quartet often rehearsed in the large living room used by the D’Aranyi sisters for chamber music soirees.
The Quartet’s players are Mariette Richter and Judith Ellis, violins, Vanessa Murby, viola and Valerie Findlay, cello, who are all experienced performers much in demand as orchestral and chamber musicians. Members of the Quartet have played in the English Chamber Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Sinfonietta, the Orchestra of The Swan, Sadlers’ Wells Orchestra, the English Sinfonia, and the Scottish National Orchestra.
The D'Aranyi String Quartet played at our wedding at the Tythe Barn in July. They were excellent throughout. Easy to book with and always on hand to answer any questions, or give advice on music choices. On the day, they arrived in good time and were flexible and willing to adapt to last minute changes and variable weather conditions. The music the played was great and all our guests commented on how much they enjoyed their playing. A huge thanks to Judith and the rest of the quartet for helping to make our day so special.
