Tom Heaney first got into the motor trade at the age of 14, he started his apprenticeship in Northern Ireland, before moving to England where he completed his apprenticeship. He returned to Northern Ireland in 1970 and worked as workshop foreman for Darragh & Main in Cookstown before starting his own business in 1973.
Tom was joined by his son Tommy in 1983 who went on to complete his City & Guilds in motor mechanics. Heaney Motor Company started life as a general repair and body shop working on regular every day cars, but in the early 90’s seeing a change in the car market and servicing we made the decision to move into the restoration business.
Mercedes restorationThe first cars restored were MG’s, Triumph TR2 & 3. In 1991 we restored two cars for the then chair of the Mercedes Benz Club, following that was our first Pagoda restoration for a customer in Dublin, these three cars led to the birth of our Mercedes Benz restoration business.
