Our beautiful vintage car, Lily, was built in Paris in 1930 by Andre Citroen. She is a model C4 and was part of a range that represented Citroen at the peak of luxury car production in France. Lily is left hand drive with power to the rear wheels. The rear part of her roof folds down. This style of body is called a landaulette and enables truly wonderful photographs of the happy couple to be taken.
As you know, in WWII France fell to the invading German army and Lily also fell into enemy hands. After the war she had a long rest in a French barn, before being found and rescued.
Lily found her way to Britain where she was lovingly restored to her former glory and now revels in her new roll as a wonderful wedding car. Lily has true Parisian chic and has at last the roll that she was born to.
Lily now lives in Longhope in Gloucestershire's lovely Forest of Dean with Gareph and Valerie. She enjoys driving in the Forest and the surrounding countryside of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire which she finds to be very romantic. Lily also adores historic towns and cities such as Cheltenham, Gloucester, Ross on Wye, Tewkesbury, Hereford and Monmouth and Gareph and Valerie take her for visits whenever they can.
Gareph and Valerie are period reenactors of the 1930/40’s and WWII events. Lily, in common with other veterans, tends to be silent about her wartime experiences.
