My desire to become a celebrant came about through being so disheartened by the impersonal nature of various ceremonies I had been to – weddings, christenings and funerals.
What is supposed to be one of the most important and memorable of days marking peoples lives – should be about them, capturing what is unique and special about them personally, the way they would like it not the way society or anything/anyone else says it should be.
I’m a professionally trained actress and the skills I have developed in that capacity are invaluable as a celebrant. I also write a weekly column in my local paper amongst other bits which rather helps with writing the ceremonies too. I love meeting new people and learning about them, I am not daunted by public-speaking and will not make your ceremony like an episode of Acorn Antiques (unless you wish – that could be fun!).
