Hi everyone, a bit about myself----
I am an Ayrshire based Independent Bridal Alteration Specialist/bespoke dressmaker with 25 years service within the bridal industry, and 44 years dressmaking.

Favourite and top school subjects where i excelled and was in my happy place= ‘art’ & ‘fashion & fabric’, which it was called way back then. That’s where my journey began...... i’d get so much satisfaction from taking my own clothes apart and construct a new and completely different style from said garment, loved it! Straight from school and into the working world, ‘hands on practical work’, where you truly learn your trade. You were put into the ‘training school’ section where you were taught ‘quality’ first and quantity later. After a few years time to move on..........
Over many years i gathered a vast amount of experience working within a few bridal stores who all had some different methods of working. This is where you are completely hands on in the practical side of working with some beautiful gowns from so many different designers, and learn so many different techniques. A thoroughly enjoyable time was had working within a beautiful Glasgow Bridal store where we created outstanding, bespoke bridal gowns for clients. This was where i got completely hooked on using my creativity in a life long career which i’ve been absorbed in ever since.
Fast forward to 2003 and my children had already grown up and flew the nest, that’s when i then decided to take a calculated risk and set up my own business to put into practice and use what i had learned over many years. Thankfully I have never looked back. I promised myself that i would keep my business small and personal, with no intention to expand and grow big. I had already looked into it all and did my homework, speaking to other’s who had embarked on the same journey. I had decided to be the one and only familiar face dealing with my customers, to enable a very personal service, and allow for continuity throughout my dealings with them, and i’ve stuck by that decision. I’ve enjoyed watching my youngest clients, since when they were little and came to me for their flowergirl or communion dresses, then return again when it was time for their proms...and then before you know it they were back again for their weddings! It was lovely to see them grow into the beautiful young ladies which they are now, and some now have their own little brood.
