Holly Lear and Rajat Ashwarya prove that true love knows no bounds.
The couple met on a business trip abroad and after only a few days they knew they had something special.
“We knew we were in love from the minute we met,” Holly, 27, says.
A long distance relationship followed before Holly and Ash, 29, decided it was time to be together permanently.
“Ash decided he would propose to me before we moved in together. After arriving in the airport to flowers and coming home to his apartment decorated with rose petals… he asked to visit the home we had chosen to move in together one more time,” Holly says.
“It was completely empty and it was there, in the empty living room of our new home, late in the evening he got down on one knee.”
One year later the pair, who now call Scotland home, married in Ash’s home country – India – before returning to the UK for their Scottish wedding.
“It showcased the union of two very different cultures and religions coming together in harmony and celebration,” Holly says of their celebrations on August 1, 2015 in front of 48 friends and family.
The ceremony was held at quaint Eddleston Church before the reception at Cringletie House, Peebles.
“Our wedding was a fairytale,” Holly says. “We had a horse and carriage, something I had dreamt about since I was a child. It was an intimate ceremony surrounded by our close friends and family and the day could not have been more perfect.”

Holly chose an embellished strapless gown for her Scottish wedding.
Ash got into the spirit of the day in his traditional Scottish attire.
“Our relationship was built on the most amazing foundation of trust and friendship because we were living so far apart, it is something, I believe, helped us weather the long distance relationship,” Holly says.
