Ambition sometimes gets in the way of a wedding and this was certainly the case for Nichola Parker and Matthew Rushton.
The loved up pair were engaged and expecting within their first year together, but a drive to run their own restaurant business delayed their vintage wedding. “A few years on and we had saved for our wedding, which we had planned to be in Mexico with our close family and friends,” says Nikki, 30 of her plans with Matt, 36. “This was not to be, as the money we had saved ended up being spent on buying a restaurant of our own and kitting it out.”
So again began the wedding saving but another restaurant came along! “Two restaurants and yet no wedding at this point so I had kinda given up for a while,” says Nikki.
Eventually though Matthew took ill and it all became too much. One restaurant was ditched and the importance of getting married became clear. “It put life into perspective and we loved each other so much and we didn’t care where we were as long as we got married and lived happily ever after,” explains the bride.
The couple married with 60 guests on September 4, 2015 at Hotel Van Dyk in Chesterfield. “We are very lucky to have found our soul mate and we appreciate each other so much,” smiles Nikki. “All family and friends enjoyed the day too and the story couldn’t be re-written as perfect.”
