Michelle Beasley and Aaron Guarini needed a stylish, edgy venue to host their non-traditional wedding on June 18, 2016.
The Drop Forge in Birmingham, a renovated Victorian factory, ticked all the boxes for the pair, aged 28 and 32 respectively. “We wanted something a little different, somewhere with character and not a typical wedding venue,” says Michelle. “The venue has lots of original features, gorgeous brick and wonderful light.”
Sixty guests attended their ceremony and in the evening, 130 loved ones were treated to tapas-style dishes served in various spots around the venue. “The many alcoves decorated with lights provided areas for our guests to relax in the evening,” smiles Michelle.
The bride and groom opted for stylish slate grey colours for their modern industrial wedding. “I decorated glass jars with lace, twine and grey ribbon which were filled with gypsophila and foliage from my bouquet and dotted around the venue,” says the Michelle of her DIY skills. “The round tables with silver chairs were simply decorated with slate cube centrepieces filled with foliage that matched my bouquet.”
Guests were given a takeaway for the evening – handmade favour boxes filled with either a scratch card, mini Jägermeister or a candle.

“The groom and groomsmen wore modern three piece grey suits and accessorised with knitted grey ties and pocket watches,” explains Michelle.
The bride opted for a natural hair style and simple accessories to let her sequin gown shine.
In Bloom handled the simple yet effective floral decorations at the couple’s reception.
“We opted for a ‘naked’ three tiered sponge cake filled with jam and butter cream decorated with foliage,” Michelle says of their desert from Wedding Cakes by Jayne.
