From their first date in Clerkenwell to weekend trips to Borough Market – London has been there every step of the romance journey for Meghan Doyle and Nic Dawson.
So it made sense for Meghan, 30, and Nic, 33, to centre their boho city wedding around South London.
“We wanted a London wedding that felt like places we enjoy, food we like to eat and a party we’d want to crash. We also wanted our guests to feel like they could relax and be themselves,” Meghan says.
One hundred and fifty family and friends flew in from across the UK and US (where Meghan is originally from) for the ceremony on June 17, 2016 at The Asylum. The celebrations continued at Tanner and Co. in Bermondsey.
“Our wedding day was perfect. We made a list of must-haves and tried to let the rest fall into place,” Meghan says.
“It was a completely joyous day and people are still telling us how much fun they had and how much they overate! Everything about it felt perfect for us.”

“If we could do it all over again, we would remind ourselves not to be anxious or preoccupied because there is so much to look forward to! It really is the best day of your life,” Meghan says.
Family and friends helped the couple decorate the venue for the boho city wedding. “We made home-made bunting with fabric from Brixton market, pom-poms and hung festoon lights,” Meghan says.
Nic popped the question one year after their first date. “Nic is a talented songwriter, so it’s no surprise he chose to write out his proposal. He had stashed several beautiful cards around the room for me to find and open in sequence. Each card was paired with a pink peony, my favourite flower. As I opened the final card he got down on one knee,” Meghan says.
City of London Black Taxis provided authentic city transport for the big day.
