Ibiza, baby: Agee and Mat’s simple bohemian beach wedding

When Agee Johnston and Mat Rose look back on their simple bohemian beach wedding, they have to pinch themselves.

“Our wedding was the most amazing time of our lives,” Agee, 35, says.

“We really wanted a relaxed laidback wedding and Mat’s love of the sea, coupled with a wedding gift from my boss of a week in his beautiful villa, meant that we ended up having it in Ibiza!”

Seventy family and friends flew out to the party island for an intimate ceremony overlooking the ocean on October 11, 2016.

A relaxed and fun-filled celebration at El Chiringuito Restaurant, located in a private cove followed.

“One of our main priorities was to have the ceremony on a beach, with the sun shining and, most importantly, surrounded by the people we love,” Agee says.

“Having already had the legal ceremony the weekend before in Brighton Town Hall, with a small reception at Hotel Du Vin, we were free to leave the formal elements out completely and keep it relaxed and most of all fun for everyone.”

Agee and Mat, also 35, kept things simple with the bohemian vibes perfectly suiting the beachside location.

“We incorporated our style to the outside venue by adding simple rustic decorations, and it was important to us that the food had to be great. El Chiringuito at Cala Gracioneta more than delivered,” the bride says.

“We danced away the night. The evening wound down perfectly with a midnight dip in the Med.”

Agee sourced her beaded racer-back dress and embellished veil from Leonie Claire.

Mat and his groomsmen wore light grey suits matched with white shirts, braces and bowties.

Agee’s bridesmaids wore peach maxi dresses with lace detail on the waist.

Agee’s bouquet consisted of eucalyptus and olive leaves mixed with white roses and bound with twine.

Agee and Mat met in high school when they were 14. Although they shared an awkward first kiss while still at school, it wasn’t until Mat returned from travelling that they officially became an item.

“We still pinch ourselves thinking back on it,” Agee says of her Ibiza wedding to Mat.
