What are friends for if you can’t call on them to be a part of your wedding day?
Lisa Stockdale, 33, married her beau Will Pank, 35, at their Oxford wedding on September 26, 2015. The couple found each other on the dating app Tinder and met up for a cup of tea after work one day. “The cup of tea very quickly turned into ice-cream, dinner, and a work leaving party where Will knew absolutely no-one but seemed to leave with another ten friends!” says Lisa. “By far the best date either of us had ever been on.”
A mutual love of classic cars and historic houses saw Will propose just nine months later on the grounds at Waddesdon Manor. Keeping with the country house theme, the pair chose Will’s old college, Oxford Union, for the reception.
And the couple were very lucky to have talented friends to enlist for their special day. “One of the best things about the wedding was that we had so much involvement from friends – from the wedding website, the photographer, the jazz band and games in the garden, to the bouquet, the quiz, the entire wedding cake and the band,” explains Lisa.
Beautiful weather meant guests were treated to hours of fun in the Master’s Garden. “It could have been a nightmare, but instead was a fun and game-filled affair with a jazz band, ice-cream from the place we had our first date, and wedding cake,” says Lisa. Following on with their fun-and-games theme, a quiz was devised by their friend Dave, who prepared the ‘Lisa and Will’-themed pub questionnaire between main and dessert. “It gave everyone a good laugh,” smiles Lisa.

Lisa’s gown perfect for a garden setting was a Justin Alexander design from Anna McDonald.
The couple had everything they needed at the college; with a cathedral for the ceremony, gardens for games and reception room for their 120 guests.
